First Communion Preparation normally begins when a child enters the first grade. It is a 2 year process.
S/he must attend either Catholic School or be enrolled in the parish religious education program.
In January of the second year, the student celebrates his/her First Penance (Confession).
Then in spring of the second year, the celebration of First Eucharist (First Communion) occurs.
