The first and foundational sacrament in which we are freed from original sin, given a share in God’s life, and welcomed as members of the church.
Prior to having a child baptized into the community, the parents need to have an understanding of what they are asking for when they present their child to be baptized. Working with members of the Baptismal Preparation Program, parents see that baptism is a life-long commitment, which will change the child’s life forever. Parents need to understand this and be willing to commit their child to this as well as being willing to accept the responsibility of raising the child in the Catholic Faith.
Parents may contact the parish office to register for Infant Baptism Parent Sessions while they are still expecting if they wish. If parents are not yet registered at Our Lady of Mercy or Our Lady of Fatima, this is a wonderful opportunity to so so. You may register in the parish by downloading the Parish Registration Form form our website and submitting it to the parish office or you may contact us by phone or email for more information. Parents should be practicing registered members of our parish for a minimum of 6 months prior to the baptism of their child.
